Chelsea Konst is a native Clevelander who pursues mixed media artwork as an outlet and passion while working towards her degree in journalism at Cleveland State University. Konst strives to tell stories through the relationships between color, found object, print material,
and negative space. These collage-based works aim to re-contextualize cultural images; old and new, suggesting the viewer see mundane objects and ephemera as equally influential to daily life as movie icons and news images.
Overarching themes in Konst’s works are juxtapositions of modern iconography, advertising, body image, consumerism, nostalgia, sentimentality, and vice. The exhibition combines those themes with color and texture to convey emotional vulnerability and flamboyant irreverence.
